Update - Post Surgery MRI

It's been a while since I've posted but I wanted to give an update on Cannon and his overall progress.

He has fully recovered from surgery and his scar is practically non existent, which is great news!

Just last week he had his 6 month follow up MRI -- both of the cervical and thoracic spine. I received a call from the nurse on Friday -- good and bad news. The good news is that the MRI showed that the pressure has definitely decreased as a result of the surgery, and the tonsils of the chiari have definitely moved "up" which is a much better position. The bad news is that the syrinx has not changed that much.

Oddly, Cannon has never really had any symptoms from his chiari... no vision issues, no tingling or anything else. So the plan is to do another MRI in 6 months and monitor for any other symptoms in the meantime. At that time he will be re-evaluated for any further surgery. So we are praying that the syrinx goes down and that more surgery will not be needed. Not sure how that would go over with him, now that he knows what is involved. :(

He continues to grow -- and has gained a lot of weight and grew 5 inches. He is in the 15% for work and in the 75% for weight! He's really bulking up.

Otherwise, he's doing just great. I am so proud of him and his continued positive attitude. More to come soon!
