November 2014: Clinical Trial Check In

Cannon spent today in Pittsburgh for a clinical trial check in. He continues to grow at a great pace (and his weight is really catching up with him!)....

It was just a few short years ago that Cannon could only jump about 3 inches in his long jump. Today he measured a whopping 35 inches! It's down from his past jump (at 42") but we attribute that to his weight gain. We are still considering signing him up for the Olympics soon :)

Our guy also has put on some pounds since his last visit. Everyone has noticed he's grown quite a bit both vertically and horizontally. Height wise, he grew two inches and is holding steady at 10% on the growth charts (coming up from being off the charts -- I'll take it!)

Then weight wise, he is 35th percentile. You can really see a difference how his weight has climbed up the charts!

Because of his weight gain, his dose of his medication dose has risen to .7 ml from .6 ml. Dr. Vockley, the doctor who is overseeing Cannon in the trial, said that he is happy with his height and that many children who are about to go through puberty put on some weight before shooting up... I'm bracing myself. They did a height projection and said if he continues at this pace, he would be approximately 5'6" (which is a drastic difference from the earlier projections when he was young of 5 feet tall).

Here is Cannon running his sprint:
